Dr. Carol J. McKee

Dr.Carol McKee graduated from the Michigan State University School of Veterinary Medicine with honors in 1979. She is one of the original owners of Southpointe, and today shares the ownership with Dr Kim Cox.

"I have a special interest in surgery and ultrasound. A lot has changed in veterinary medicine since I graduated, but my focus has not changed from providing compassionate client and patient care. I also believe that continuing education for every staff member is key to providing optimal patient care."

Dr. McKee's husband is a Prototype Manager for Automodular Corporation. They have 2 daughters and in her free time, you may find Dr. McKee at one of their swim meets or soccer games.

Her four-legged family includes 4 dogs and 4 cats – all rescues.


Dr. Kimberly Cox

Dr. Kimberly Cox is a 2002 graduate of the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed her pre-veterinary course work at Wayne State University. She has been on staff at Southpointe Veterinary Hospital since 1997, first as a volunteer, then a veterinary assistant and now as a veterinarian. In January of 2007, Dr. Cox also became a part owner of Southpointe Veterinary Hospital.

Dr. Cox is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association, the Southeastern Michigan Veterinary Medical Association and the Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Veterinarians.

Dr. Cox is also a contributing author to the Downriver News Herald “Ask a Vet” column.

Her professional interests include dogs, cats, and exotics, especially birds and reptiles. She has a special interest in surgery and ultrasound. Her personal pets include a dog, 2 cats, birds, and 3 tortoises.

"My goal is to provide your pet with the best care possible by communicating with you all of the available treatment options. Together, we will choose a treatment plan that is the right one for your pet's individual needs.”


Dr. Cassandra J. Callaway

Dr. Callaway graduated from Michigan State University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994. She has a special interest in avian and exotic medicine and is an active member of the Association of Avian Medicine, Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians, and Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Veterinarians.

Dr. Callaway joined the staff of Southpointe Veterinary Hospital in October of 1995. Dr. Callaway is married with two children and shares her home with three cats, two dogs, and a budgie. Her personal interests include reading, hiking, and camping.


Dr. Kathy Hibbard

Dr.Kathy Hibbard is a graduate of the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine class of 1981. "The longer I practice, the more I see myself as a "general" practitioner with the basic philosophy of treating people the way that I would want to be treated, and treating their pets as if they were my own." As a practice, we strive to keep up with the latest medical technology...as an individual, I am humbled by the realization that my greatest tool will always be my heart."


Dr. Tara L. Pogarch

Dr. Pogarch graduated with honors from the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2000. She joined Southpointe's staff in February 2005. Dr. Pogarch is a soft spoken patient advocate. She will take the time to explain her findings on physical examination and discuss with you, your options for the best care of your pet.

"I enjoy the challenges of veterinary medicine. I am glad to be a member of the Southpointe team. As a veterinarian, I strive to provide the most up-to-date compassionate medical care for my patients."

Dr. Pogarch grew up in Monroe and still makes her home there. She enjoys spending time with her husband, her stepchildren, and the many members of their furry family. They share their home with Annie (the dog), and family of cats - Lucy, Lily, New Cat, Momma K (Summer), and new arrival- Newman. They also have a barn full of pet goats (Pygmy goats and Nigerian Dwarf goats)- Finnegan, Obie, Red, Etta, and Nigel. Ruby - the cat keeps them in line. She also is an active member of her church and community.


Dr. Lora Montgomery

Dr. Montgomery is a 2005 graduate of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University. During her undergraduate studies, she worked in the virology section of the Diagnostic Center for Population and Animal Health, and holds a bachelors degree in microbiology and molecular genetics from MSU. Her interests include playing the trumpet, reading and spending time with her daughter, husband and three furry children.
