Southpointe Veterinary Hospital was
established in 1982. The name was chosen because the
clinic is located in the southern most tip of Allen
Park.
Dr. Carol McKee is one of the original owners. She
graduated from Michigan State University’s College
of Veterinary Medicine in 1979. Today she sees patients
on a more part-time basis in order to devote more time
to the development of the practice. She has special
interests in surgery and ultrasound. Her primary interest,
however, is keeping Southpointe’s focus on quality
patient care and abreast of the latest developments
in veterinary medicine.
Dr Kim Cox became a partner in the practice in January
2007. She joined the veterinary staff in June 2002.
She was not new to the practice, however, as she was
a veterinary assistant here before entering veterinary
school at Michigan State University. She has an interest
in exotic pets and in ultrasound procedures.
The hospital contains a full laboratory and pharmacy
as well as radiology, ultrasound and surgical areas.
Most diagnostic and treatment procedures can be handled
within the hospital. Evening, weekend and holiday emergencies
are handled by Affiliated Veterinary Emergency in Southgate.
Joyce Blair is our Hospital Manager. She started at
Southpointe in July 1988. Before coming to Southpointe,
she was the manager of several convenience stores. Joyce
has worked all of the employment positions at Southpointe
before becoming hospital manager. Joyce was featured
in the September 2006 Veterinary Economic magazine’s
cover story on successful Hospital Managers.
Dr Kathy Hibbard joined the veterinary staff in May
1994. Many of the patients, who may be seen for the
first time in our records, are actually long-time, devoted
clients of Dr. Hibbard.
Dr. Cassie Callaway joined the veterinary staff in
October 1995. She is a graduate of Michigan State University
Class of 1994 and has a particular interest in exotic
pets.
In February of 2005, we welcomed Dr. Tara Pogarch to
our veterinary staff. She graduated in 2000 from Michigan
State University and is particularly interested in Internal
Medicine.
Dr. Lora Montgomery became a part of our veterinary
staff in August 2005 after graduating from Michigan
State University in 2005.
We have many support staff personnel who have been
on our healthcare team for 5 to 10 years and beyond.
They have all contributed greatly to the harmony and
success of the practice.
We welcome you to our veterinary healthcare team. We
look forward to continuing the tradition of providing
the best veterinary care possible with the help of a
dedicated, knowledgeable and skilled staff.
