Southpointe Veterinary Hospital was established in 1982 by Dr's Carol McKee, Linda Harbeck and Angel Galang. The name was chosen because the clinic is located in the southern most tip of Allen Park.  The last original owner retired from Southpointe in 2010.

Dr Kimberly Cox became the sole owner of Southpointe Veterinary Hospital in December, 2010.  She joined the veterinary staff as a veterinarian in June 2002 and became a part-owner in 2007.  She originally came to Southpointe in 1997 as a volunteer, then worked here as a veterinary assistant before entering veterinary school at Michigan State University. She has an interest in exotic pets and in ultrasound procedures.

Southpointe was completely remodeled in 2007.  The hospital contains a full laboratory , pharmacy, in-house radiology, ultrasound and surgical areas.  It also contains a kennel with heated floors, an enclosed backyard,  an intensive care unit, isolation ward and separate dog and cat wards.  There is also an adoption room which consistently features adoptable cats.  The waiting room boasts a snack bar, fireplace and sky lights.  The hospital is equipped to provide most emergency, medical and surgical care as well as diagnostic and treatment procedures on site. Evening, weekend and holiday emergencies are handled by Affiliated Veterinary Emergency Clinic in Allen Park.  For those cases requiring more extensive diagnostics or care, we refer to a specialty center in the area.

Joyce Blair is the Hospital Manager. She started at Southpointe in July 1988. Before coming to Southpointe, she was the manager of several convenience stores. Joyce has worked all of the employment positions at Southpointe before becoming hospital manager.  Joyce was featured in the September 2006 Veterinary Economic magazine’s cover story on successful Hospital Managers.

Dr. Kathy Hibbard joined the veterinary staff in May 1994. She has been practicing veterinary medicine for over 28 years and has a very loyal clientele, many of which followed her from her previous practice.

Dr. Lora Montgomery became a part of our veterinary staff in August 2005 upon graduating from Michigan State University.  Dr. Montgomery has a special interest in Internal Medicine and Ultrasound

Dr. Lauren Walker joined the veterinary staff in July 2010.  She is a 2009 graduate of Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine.  She completed her pre-veterinary coursework at Michigan State University.  Dr. Walker has a special interest in Internal Medicine and Dentistry.

Southpointe also employs relief veterinarians from time to time.
