Meet our adoption committee: Jane and Val. We are dedicated to finding permanent, loving homes for the many strays that temporarily find shelter and care here at Southpointe. We do not do this alone, however, as every staff member here contributes a part in helping us achieve our goal.

The adoption/surrender fee helps to defray a small portion of the cost of medical care we give. In fact, many times we spend much more than this small fee to insure our strays are healthy. We do not "profit" from adoptions, our true reward is not measured in dollars but in helping the animals and our community. For strays not altered at the time of adoption, usually less than 6 months, adopters are required to spay/neuter at the appropriate age and an estimate can be provided at the time of adoption.

All of our cats are tested for FELV/FIV, started on vaccines and spayed or neutered. We do get a few dogs now and then, and they are also spayed or neutered, checked for heartworm, started on preventative and vaccinated too. They all have also been microchipped to aid in reuniting owner and pet if they ever become lost.

If you have interest in one of our adoptees, please come in to visit. The animals love the attention and we'd like to meet you! You can also e-mail Jane or Val for more information.

As part of the adoption process, you will complete an adoption questionnaire. This helps us to evaluate your needs in order to find the right animal companion for you. After you are approved, you will sign an adoption contract. This is your assurance to us that you will provide shelter, care and love for your new family member.

We do not do same day adoptions. There are so many homeless animals, many which have been surrendered by their owners because they didn't realize the commitment involved. A few extra days allow you to think about your decision. You are making a lifetime decision for both you and your new pet!
